Description
Spend the night on the flanks of an imposing Byzantine fortress gazing over the rooftops towards the distant horizon. This is a truly unique medieval hill house at the highest point of the kastro, with outstanding panoramic ocean views to the horizon and Cavo Malea to the south. It sleeps 7 in three bedrooms and an extra person in a sofa bed in the living room, and is easily accessible thanks to its position in the town. Furthermore it boasts a lush private garden built over 3 terraces (a rare feature), making summer evenings nice and cool. After a day's sightseeing you can relax and take in the awe-inspiring views both day and night. We needn't say any more about this dream property, the pictures speak for themselves...

The neighborhood
If you're looking to stay in Monemvasia you probably already know a few things about how special this place is...but here's a quick summary: The fortress dates back to 583 by mainlanders fleeing Slavic and Avaric invaders. From the 10th century AD, the town developed into an important trade and maritime centre. The fortress has withstood countless invasions and seiges over the centuries, earning it the nickname 'Gibraltar of the East'. Today it is one of the most picturesque places in Greece, and that's saying something!
Getting around
Transport options are limited in this medieval hilltown. There is a road connection to the mainland but you will mostly be using you feet or a donkey when navigating the town itself. There is a regular bus service from town to Kastro. Further, guests can arrange for their luggage to be carried to the house by a porter at the entrance to the Kastro.
Other things to note
The house is suitable for winter as well, as it has electrical radiators and a functional fireplace. Guests would need to purchase wood for the fireplace.
Welcome shampoo and conditioner is provided. The guests have to provide their own for long stays.
